Rajinikanth is one of India's most famous and popular actors, particularly in South India. He is often referred to as "Thalaiva," which means "leader" in Tamil. Rajinikanth was born on December 12, 1950, in Bangalore (today called Bengaluru), Karnataka. His real name is Shivaji Rao Gaekwad. He was from a middle-class Marathi family. His father was a police officer, and his mother died while he was quite young.
As a child, Rajinikanth was interested in acting and participated in school plays. He attended Acharya Pathasala Public School and thereafter worked as a carpenter and coolie before becoming a bus operator for the Bangalore Transport Service (BTS). Despite this, he maintained his interest in acting.
Film Career
Rajinikanth's life changed when he enrolled at the Madras Film Institute to study acting. K. Balachander, a well-known director, recognized him and cast him in his debut Tamil film, Apoorva Raagangal, in 1975. Despite his minor role, his distinct style and screen presence drew attention.
He began his career playing numerous unpleasant roles, yet he quickly rose to the position of lead actor. His film Baashha (1995) established him as a household star. Following that, he produced more successful films, including:
